His name is Jonas

My Amazing Family!
So it was a good thing Jeremy graduated Friday because Saturday was a pretty busy day for us. We got home late Friday night (11ish) so Jeremy only had a hour or so of sleep before he had to go to work for 15 hours. Saturday, the girls and I got up and went to Allyson's soccer game. Then we did a little shopping and had lunch. We went to my mom to finish a project I've been working on for about a week. Long about 2:15pm I noticed I was having quite a few contractions. I decided to time them and they were about 5 or 6 minutes apart. I was induced with both my girls so I didn't know what to expect. I questioned my mom about how far apart contractions had to be before you thought about going to the hospital. She said about 5 minutes apart. So I timed them until 3. Sure enough every 5 minutes I'd have one. So I called Wal-Mart DC and asked to speak with Jeremy Hunsaker. They only let you call if you have an emergency. I've only had to call once before and that was for my brother-in-laws death. I got a hold of Jeremy and informed him that I was having contractions every 5 minutes for the past 40 minutes. He said "Can you give me 10 minutes to finish things up?" Sure, why not I'm not too worried. He hangs up and asked the people in the office if that is something that's serious. They pretty much pushed him out the door.

He picks me up and we head down to the hospital. I was worried that it was a false alarm and how embarrassed I'd feel it was. We check in at 3:30 and they wheel me back to my room, strap me in the bed and monitor me. Jeremy meanwhile is texting anyone and everyone telling them we're going to have the baby. I voice my concern about a false labor and my embarrassment. He admits to not even thinking of it being a false alarm when the nurse tell us, oh no, this is the real thing.

I'm at a 3 when I am admitted and within the hour I'm an 8. I am practically begging for an epidural. They ask if I'm sure, because it might not kick in before the baby is here. I didn't care I wanted that thing bad! Then they tell us that our doctor is out of town until 8:30 that night. Our doctor never goes anywhere. So finally they give me the epidural and it is bliss. 2 minutes after that they tell me to push. I push once and he's out. He let's out a little cry and Jeremy cuts the cord. Sometime between the cord cutting and the cleaning he stops breathing. They had to resuscitate the poor little guy. The nurses did such a fantastic job and handled it so calmly. Finally they brought him to us and he had that funny look that all newborns had but I loved him! He was born at 5:40pm. That's just over 2 hours from check-in time. He was 19 inches long and weighed 5 pounds 6 ounces. He was only a week and a half early but boy was he tiny. Ally was 7 pounds 4 ounces and Andie was 8 pounds even. We named him Jonas Aragorn Hunsaker. Yes, that's Aragorn from The Lord of the Rings, Jeremy is a big fan and I love him that much. A little after Jonas was born Jeremy went home to change and shower (remember he had just gotten off of a 15 hour shift and had slept an hour the night before) and I switched on the TV and flipped through the channels and guess what was on. The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King. Pretty cool that that just happened to be showing I thought. Jeremy spent the night with me while my fantastic mother watched our girls. She should win mother of the year with all the stuff she does to help me out. I'm so lucky. Our doctor came in that night around 9:30 to apologize for not being there. He told us that he's only missed 2 births, including ours. Impressive. He thought that he would make it in time and an hour after he found out I was in the hospital he called to make sure the on-call doctor knew too. Apparently he couldn't talk to him because he was in delivering the baby.
Last year for out anniversary Jeremy got me a necklace with 2 tiny rings bearing the birthstones of our two daughters. We tried them on Jonas and it almost fit his pinkie finger.

This is the picture the nurses took and posted it on the hospital website. If you want to look it's found at http://www.brighamcityhospital.com/WebBabies.asp?BABYID=60971 . And yes they spelled my name wrong but not the in way you thought.

Swimming in preemie clothes.

We put him in his car seat to take him home and found that he barely fits. The car seat fits children from 5 to 20 pounds. He just barely made it.

My sisters are the coolest. They made and hung this banner for us. There were balloons everywhere too! Thanks you guys, you're the best!

Ally is holding him in this picture. She absolutely adores him. First thing she said when she saw him was "AWWW!" It was so funny.

Here's Andie holding him. She's a lot more excited than I thought she would be. She's a really good helper and is quite involved with Jonas.

All of our kids. I can't say "the girls" anymore. Now it's "the kids".

That is so funny how they misspelled your name-really isn't how I expected it.
Hey is so adorable. I missed seeing you on Wednesday (I had to be home by 9 and Gama kept me very occupied).
I am glad that everything is so good and love the pics. I can't believe how tiny he looks in his car seat.
I am so proud of you Apryl. You are such an amazing Mother and I am glad that you are my sister (I hate saying sister in law because you are truly my sister).
I love you so much and am so happy for you and your family. I am glad that the girls are ok with having a brother and love the pic of Andy holding Jonas, her smile is so adorable.
