Grouse Creek

We decided to go on a camping trip this weekend. We'd been thinking about going for awhile but when we decided to go it was pretty spontaneous. Jeremy has been looking for places to look for geodes. We were planning on Dugway and Topaz Mountain but a friend of our suggested Grouse Creek. He's taken scouts out there and they found lots so we decided to give it a shot.
Jeremy, Jonas and I slept in the back of the car. A little uncomfortable but not cold at all! Especially with my little portable heater I call Jonas.
The girls slept in the tent and had a fun time.

They love camping and were so excited when we told them we were going.

We got a little lost because there are NO road signs where we went and landmarks are a little hard to see in the dark so we didn't find the spot until the next day. We didn't really know what to look for. Our plan was to bring the UV lights we borrowed from my older brother and find them using those since geodes glow when you use black lights, but that didn't work out as planned. We did find lots of cool rocks though.

Jeremy was having a field day!

This is Ally's evil scientist nose.

Aggie was quite the climber.

But not as good as Jeremy.

Jonas found a rock he liked.

On the drive home we explored a bit and found an old abandoned mine.

So of course we had to climb on top and throw stuff.
When we got back our friend found out we didn't find any geodes so he came by and gave us some that we got to crack open with a mallet. The girls thought it was so cool to hit the rocks and find the "jewels" inside.
