MY Jr. Peach Queen

This year for Peach Days, Andrea got the opportunity to be in the Jr. Peach Queen Pageant. She was pretty excited. She got to wear the beautiful white dress that she's been waiting a year to wear. There were 65 5-year-olds this year. Yeah, it took a long time to get through the whole pageant but I'm glad we did it.

Last year when Ally was in it, her name did not get picked out of the glass bowl. She was very close to tears and I felt so bad. So this year both Allyson and I prepped Andie.

"Just because your name isn't picked, that doesn't mean you didn't do a good job...weren't the prettiest....didn't curtsy the best....fill in the blank"

We tried to prepare her so she wouldn't be sad when her name wasn't called. I guess we did too good of a job because almost the entire pageant she had a frown. Even before the names were pick, and no her name was not chosen.

I asked her afterwards why she was frowning, did she not have a good time. She told me "I had a good time, I just knew I wasn't going to win." How sad is that. I try and prepare her for disappointment and all I did was crush her hopes. I'm so sorry Andrea.

She did a spectacular curtsy!

And held so still while the Peach Queen, Lisa Lundberg, clasped her necklace around her neck.

I tried to get a picture of her by the decorations and she had a forced smile.

It wasn't until the mention of taking a picture with the Peach Queen and Ally that she finally gave me a real smile.

I love you Andie, you'll always be MY Jr. Peach Queen.

I just have to say how beautiful Andrea looks! What a doll. Such a world I'm completely unfamiliar with...

So cute! I remember being crushed when I was in that because they drew the name out of the bowl instead of choosing the prettiest girl (which I assumed would be me) lol.
I get what ya mean though, you want them to be prepared :)
